Hi Students,
Well, it is nearly November and hopefully those of you who are writing your CRNE February 2011 are already studying, or starting to plan your studying. Here are some tips from PRIMED Education.
1. First, it is necessary that you review the CNA’s LEARN readiness guide, to get a feel for what the CRNE will looks like. It is important to remember that it is the CNA who is administering the same Canadian Registered Nurses Exam across Canada, therefore the study guide they produce is the most important tool you will use to prepare.
2. Start carving our regular study time. Treat your studying like a job, maybe you can devote 2-4 hours every Tuesday afternoon.. schedule studying in and don’t let other things interfere (like errands or housework). You should plan with at least a few hours a week now, and increase the weekly study time in December and January. This scheduled time is very important with upcoming holidays, don’t let holiday parties interfere with your exam success.
3. Plan to take a review course. That’s what we specialize in at PRIMED Education! We offer 2 day intensive review sessions, or “bootcamp” for the CRNE. This is where you will get a chance to determine what your strengths and weaknesses are, as well as how you should modify your studying in the last month before the exam.
4. Find a friend.. someone you can study with and someone who will motivate you. Just make sure you are actually studying and not socializing.
5. Start visualizing success. You still have lots of time before the CRNE, so start visualizing yourself being successful on the exam. There has been a lot of research which indicates this strategy is key for successful examinations.
Hope these tips help you prepare and we look forward to seeing you at an upcoming CRNE review session.
